About this blog

Reading is important. Very important. It is not passive entertainment - like TV or a DVD. It is active entertainment. Not just because you have to get out of goldfish mode and use your brain for its intended purpose by looking at a string of letters and translating it into words. It is active entertainment because it forces you to use your imagination. To see things that are not there - to visualize people, places and events.

But if you are to read, you should read something good. Reading bad books is like drinking bad wine. Not only is there no point, it also gives you a headace.

So this blog is dedicated to good books. Good, funny books. Which is even more rare. Everybody can be funny. Slipping on a banana peel is funny. This guy killing himself in an elevator shaft is funny. But to be funny on command; to sit down with a pen and a piece of paper and to be consistently funny for 300 pages, that is hard.

List of the funnies books ever

Here is a great link to a site entirely devoted to the funniest books ever written: Funny Books . org

My personal favourites on this list has to be Wilt by Tom Sharpe - the first in the Wilt series and particularly amusing because of its mid 70s setting, and of course the "trilogy in five parts" Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.

Missing from the list is Incompetent by Rob Grant, but the moderators have promised to add it shortly.
